We are very happy to announce that John Amplas will be joining us at this years Living Dead Weekend: Monroeville. Over the years John has starred in many of George Romero’s movies, Dawn and Day of the Dead, Knightriders, he was Nathan’s Reanimated corpse in Creepshow, and the lead role in Martin. John will be with us all weekend, so come out and say hi!

John Amplas is known primarily for his work with director George A. Romero on the cult film Martin (1978), in which he played the title role of Martin, a troubled young man who believes himself to be a vampire. Without fangs or mystical powers, Martin injects women with sedatives and drinks their blood through wounds inflicted with razor blades.

Thereafter, he has appeared in a number of other films directed by Romero, including Dawn of the Dead (1978), John was one of the roof top gang members who tries to shoot it out with the S.W.A.T team whilst the zombies are taking over the world.

Knightriders (1981), John played Whiteface, one of the performing entertainers.

Creepshow (1982), as Nathan’s Reanimated corpse john got into full monster make-up by Tom Savini, and crawled out of the burial plot in search of the cake for the Fathers Day segment.

Day of the Dead (1985), John played Dr. Fisher, one of the the scientists, who are trying to figure out whats making the dead return to life and eat the living.

John Amplas in CreepshowJohn also had a role in Toxic Zombies (1980), a former video nasty in the UK known as Forest of Fear, about drug crops that are sprayed with a chemical by a passing airplane, the growers of the crop are poisoned by the chemical and turn into zombie-like mutants.

also Midnight (1982), directed by John Russo. A teenage runaway and 2 guys travelling cross-country encounter a family of satanists.

He has recently acted in a horror concept teaser entitled The Three (2011) directed by filmmaker Scott Goldberg which also features co-lead from Day of the Dead Lori Cardille and filmed inside the same underground mine facility where George Romero shot Day of the Dead.

John also teaches acting at Point Park University in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
