The Living Dead Weekend: Evans City, PA

This October's LIVING DEAD WEEKEND will be focused entirely on the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, the film that started it all, the film that created the genre and gave us zombies and living dead. Without it we would all be very different people. The celebration will spread from Evans City where it was filmed to Pittsburgh where the film was conceived, produced and premiered.

The focus of the weekend will be the Saturday Night Image Ten 50th Anniversary show and screening in Pittsburgh's Byham Theater, the very same theater where the film had its world premiere 50 years ago, almost to the exact date.

Our celebrity guests will be both in Evans City and in Pittsburgh at the theater. We will have location tours and vendors and all the things you've some to expect in EC, with the bonus Saturday Night Pittsburgh Gala which will be unlike anything you have ever seen (think Hollywood). You will have to wait a bit longer for those details from Image Ten, but meanwhile we will begin to announce our NOTLD Celebrity Guests and other EC events.

Frequently asked questions

It is a fan convention held in a festival format. The event is mostly outdoors in a town festival format, but also features celebrity guests much like at a horror convention of comicon. We also have community events like a costumed pet parade for charity, local fundraisers, local business spotlight events, craft vendors and such that you would find at a small town festival.

We do not necessarily hold true to a single venue. The town festival format allows us to utilise the local park and pavilions for some parts of the event and we also often spill into nearby streets and parking lots and local businesses for other events. The Living Dead Museum is used heavily too, and this year we focus heavily on the Pittsburgh Anniversary Theater Event which is being held at the Byham Theater downtown Pittsburgh.

No and yes. It is a separate event taking place during the overall weekend celebration of the 50th Anniversary of NOTLD. That said, it is also the main focus of this year’s LDW, meaning that everything that is being planned in Evans City is being done in a way to compliment the big Official Byham Theater Screening Event. Our LDW schedule will wrap around that event so that everyone can take part in all of the weekend’s events without any conflict in schedule.

No, it’s not. There is much more to be announced about this. Image Ten under the leadership of Gray Streiner will have much to say and announce about this very soon. Trust us, it’s something much more and you will certainly not want to miss it.

Both. All of the NOTLD Celebrity guests will have an appearance schedule that will allow them to be in both places at just the right times. They will all have autograph sessions and meet and greets in Evans City and also they all have their parts in the theater event, to be announced soon.

Not really, this year we will focus on 1968’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD’s cast and crew to celebrate it’s 50th Anniversary. But stay tuned for some surprises in the guests announcements, we love to find new people to introduce you to.

No, the tickets to the Byham event have to be purchased separately directly from the Byham Theater. That info will be announced soon.

This year we are changing the format to a similar format that we used in Monroeville. We have designed the event to be more interactive and instead of seating in a restaurant, we will use a catering service that allows a more social mix and more fun. Food and drinks will be included. It takes place on Friday evening to allow for Saturday to be open for the Byham Theater Event. Our venue will be announced soon.

Both. We use buses to take the groups from location to location and get off the buses to walk around and hear the information and reenactments
