It may be CREEP-Year at the Living Dead Weekend but we always celebrate DAWN OF THE DEAD since we host the event at its main filming location, the Monroeville Mall. It is an honor to finally have the following guest appear at our show for the very first time, please give a warm welcome to John Rice. John can only appear on Saturday the 8th of June during the event, so take note.
Mr Rice appears in DAWN OF THE DEAD as the SWAT officer seen in the beginning of the movie tenement scenes, who can’t quite handle everything going on, and he decides to end his own life. John was also a member of the crew on DAWN OF THE DEAD and in charge of handling continuity on the film, he was there for every day of its production, and he will no doubt have a lot to say about the film and its creation. In real life John is a director, cinematographer, writer, and teacher, having taught film courses for many years at Pittsburgh’s Point Park University.
After working on DAWN OF THE DEAD, John worked on George Romero’s KNIGHTRIDERS as the Second Camera Assistant and on John Russo’s MIDNIGHT in a bit part and as its Assistant Cinematographer. In the following years he would work much more in film and even worked extensively on the films and documentaries of Tony Buba, including NO PETS, STRUGGLES IN STEEL: THE FIGHT FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, WE ARE ALIVE! THE FIGHT TO SAVE BRADDOCK HOSPITAL, and GHOSTS OF AMISTAD: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE REBELS.
John will be appearing on Saturday the 8th of June only, so make sure to visit him while he is with us that day or you will miss out.
The Living Dead Weekend CREEP-Year celebration is June 7-9. 2024.
